FACEBLACKNESS

“Faceblackness” is a style that came into existence in 2015. The intent of these pieces is to challenge minstrel show imagery that was once used to degrade Black people and flip the narrative to tell Black stories.

Through the use of stylized characters juxtaposed between black and white line work, this illustrative style attempts to stir dialogue related to Black Pop-cultural icons, and social topics referencing historical and current events.
